Return to SDWG page.

NOTE: As of November 19th 2009, Formal Proposals for CDA R3 are no longer being accepted through the HL7 Wiki. You may still bring your proposals directly to the SDWG for consideration. Individuals directed by the work group to create formal propsals may still do so here.

CDA R3 Formal Proposals are proposals that will or have been formally submitted to SDWG for consideration for incorporation into CDA R3. Each of these proposals will be or has been reviewed by committee. Those that have been accepted will be part of the CDA R3 specification when it is ultimately released for formal HL7 balloting. See also the CDA Suggested Enhancements for a list of suggested enhancements that have been captured over the past couple of years. Suggested enhancements will be reviewed by SDTC and many will be promoted as formal proposals, particularly where the use case is clear.

Formal Proposals Sub-Lists

Process

A formal proposal may be raised by anyone.

To raise a formal proposal:

  • Create a new wiki page. (You can create a page from scratch, simply by entering the name of the new page in the search-box on left, which results in a page with the text There is no page titled "your new page name". Select your new page name and the new page will be created).
  • Copy the contents of CDA R3 Formal Proposal Template into your new page. (Make sure when copying the contents that the first line is "{{CDA R3 Open Proposals}}", which will automatically make your page show up in the Table of Contents below).
  • Send an e-mail to the [SDTC list] alerting the committee so that agenda and discussion time can be arranged.

Resolution process:

  • Formal proposals will be reviewed in committee. Those that are accepted will be part of the CDA R3 specification when it is ultimately released for formal HL7 balloting.
  • Once a committee decision has been reached on a formal proposal, its status will change from Open to Approved or Closed.
