Issue

CDA R1 and R2 use the original Datatypes specification. There's now a new R2 specification that should pass final HL7 and ISO approval by Sept. It incorporates numerous clarifications, enhancements and corrections

Recommendation

• Ensure that CDA R3 is clearly defined to use Datatypes R2, not R1

Rationale

The new datatypes support several use-cases not supported by R1. In addition, datatypes R2 eases implementation by UML software.
