  • Craig read the presentation scripts during class, served as my interpreter when students asked questions, narrated the PPT presentations, did voice-overs for the eleven demo videos, and compressed those videos to flv format. He also resized the PDF graphics using a spreadsheet and script. He demonstrated the process for resizing graphics at the final class.

Dec 11

  • Craig has contributed a LOT to the SAIF DITA training course. He read the presentation scripts during class, served as my interpreter when students asked questions, narrated the PPT presentations, did voice-overs for the eleven demo videos, and compressed those videos to flv format. He also edited the slides on the graphics process (day 3 training) and created new slides about the proposed graphics process (day 5). He wrote the homework assignment for days 1-3.

Nov 23

  • Did some work on graphics and we discussed ideas for the training presentation as I need his help with voicing for me at the sessions.

Nov 14

  • Created a new design for the 3D ECCF graphic for Steve and Charlie to review. This ECCF graphic was rotated 90 degrees to show the same orientation as the ECCF table.

Oct 29

  • Revised BF graphics.
  • Read the BF core framework sections and worked with Karen on making additional editorial changes to improve the clarity of the document.

Oct 15

  • Redesigned 5 BF graphics.

Sept 24

  • Finished converting the Intro graphics and put a white background on the concept maps.

Sept 13

  • Converting Intro and ECCF graphics to SVG format.

Aug 5

  • Interpreted for Karen at her meeting with Pat Van Dyke.

July 16

  • Published a dita file containing all the graphics in the SAIF project. This document is like a visual CMS spreadsheet of all the graphics being used. Karen added a link to this document on the SAIF Editing wiki.

July 6, 2010

  • Completed writing and testing the batch files that generate the CCM spreadsheets for the DITA topics and graphics.
  • Showed Karen how they work.

May 14, 2010

  • Researched DITA training materials and ordered some books.
  • Researched RenderX pdf processing engine formatting possibilities for line numbering for reviewers and change bars. (Thanks to RenderX for donating their XEP processor to HL7!)
  • Updated spreadsheets.

May 7, 2010

  • Continued working on scripts for generating spreadsheets and for tracking graphics.
  • Created a batch file for resizing and converting SVG graphics to bitmaps for PDF and HTML.

April 9, 2010

  • Wrote scripts for generating the following spreadsheets:
    • DITA topic spreadsheet
    • DITA topics containing graphics

April 2, 2010

  • Created a simplified SAIF triptych graphic (SAIF as a puzzle piece fitting into the EAS puzzle).
  • Worked on the graphics spreadsheet.

March 29, 2010

  • Worked on spreadsheets
  • Worked on work flows for procedure generation
  • Prepared preliminary gantt chart
  • Set up search engines for finding items

March 22, 2010

  • Helped Karen with the DITA file and text renaming project. Used the Bulk File Rename freeware to rename the filenames and Wingrep to replace the text. Also ran test builds and the docbook2dita tool to convert the Behavioral Framework doc to DITA. Ran PDF and XHTML DITA builds.

February 22, 2010

  • Researched different methods for creating Word output from DITA. Used XML Mind XSL Utility with the dita2word plug-in to create Word output from the SAIF DITA document.
