SAIF CD definition:

Given a specification, two implementation instances are said to be Compatible if-and-only-if they can successfully engage – without further modification of their implementation specifics – in any shared purpose scenario that can be expected to be supported based on the reference specification that is implemented by the involved instances. In other words, two implementation instances are said to be Compatible if they do not ―localize by specifying context-specific, non-interoperable constraints.

Current one could work with minor modifications:

Compatibility is the ability of a device or system to work with another device or system without modification. [IBM]. Relationships between two or more conformance statements that involve two or more interoperability specification instances. The relationship identifies whether two or more implementations certified as conformant to the interoperability specification instances can achieve the objectives of the shared purpose without any modification. If so, the two SS instances and associated implementations are compatible.
