Proposal for HL7 implementation case study webinars

setting up the HL7v3 Case Studies for the WGM, there have been a number of really interesting proposals that we do not have time for in Atlanta. Also, not everyone who would be interested in case studies goes to working group meetings.

So I would like to look at the possibility of doing V3 Implementation Case Study Webinars

The idea would be to have 30 mins of presentation, and 30 mins of questions, following the pattern of the Case Studies for the WGM. The session would be recorded and available for download, alongside downloads of the slides and supporting material (implementation guides etc). This seems to be a good way to get introductions to current projects without taking too much time for the presenter or the audience, and having something that can be viewed when it is convenient, rather than just at a fixed time.

This will be on the agenda for the Implementation call on Monday -- but I have added marketing and electronic services to the addressees for this note, since there is clearly overlapping interest. In particular I would welcome tips on the best webinar software to use.

Open issues include: What webinar software to use Do attendees have to book, what is the maximum number of attendees Should the sessions be recorded, or are they "catch me if you can" events How often should they run, what time, etc.

I would like to try this out quickly in a low key way at minimal/no cost, to see whether it flies. At worst we will get potential presentations lined up for future WGMs -- at best we will establish a way for implementers to communicate effectively with HL7.org about what they would like to see changed in the organizations products, and for those starting integration projects to learn the lessons from implementers who have gone before them.

Next steps -- discuss the idea on the call on Monday, and line up a trial asap (ideally before Atlanta)
