Issue

Conflicting comments in LRI regarding what date should go in OBX.14.

Note:

1) the datatype for OBX-14 and SPM.17.1(Specimen Collection

Date/Time -Range Start Date/Time) are TS_4,

and OBR-7(Observation Date/Time ) and SPM.17.2(Specimen Collection

Date/Time -Range End Date/Time) are TS_5. ( This is a CR covered in OO CRLRI-006)

2) The SPM group can repeat.

• Currently OBX.14 comments states:

" For specimen based test, if it is valued it must be the same as SPM-17

If SPM-17 is present and relates to the same observation, then OBX-14 must

be within the DR range"

• SPM.17 comment states:

" For OBXs reporting observations based on this specimen, OBX-14 should contain the

same value as component 1 of one of the SPM-17.1 values under the OBR. "

• as well as a usage note under OBR:

"The date/time of those OBXs that relate to the actual result should have OBX-14 equal to OBR-7. "

• and one under the OBX:

"For an OBX that reflects a an( <-- note typo) actual result for the test requested, rather than including

additional information such as ask at order entry responses, OBX-14 (Date/Time of the Observations

should be identical to OBR-7 (Observation Date/Time). "

In LOI there is no comment.

Changes made in the PH Profile ( ERL-R2)

• OBX.14 comments states:

... "...For specimen based test, if it is valued it must be the same as SPM-17.1 If SPM-17.2 is present and relates to the same observation, then OBX-14 must be within the DR range...."

• Plus a Conformance statement ( since the comment contains a "must")

"ELR-72: OBX-14 (Date/Time of the Observation) For observation related to testing of specimen (OBX's following the OBR), SHALL be identical to an occurrence of SPM-17.1 (Range Start Date/Time) value within the same ORDER_OBSERVATION Group. "

Recommendation

1. Remove usage note under the OBR and OBX
2. for OBX.14 comment
   "For specimen based test, if it is valued it must be the same as as one of the SPM-17.1(Specimen Collection Range Start Date/Time) values under the same OBR."
3. Adopt Conformance statement ELR-72 which is testable if adopting OBX-29 (Observation Type) <-- yet another LRI CR
4. For SPM-17 comment

"For OBXs reporting observations based on this specimen, OBX-14 shall contain the same value as one of the SPM-17.1(Specimen Collection Range Start Date/Time) values under the same OBR. "

Rationale

To clarify what should go into OBX-14 and remove confusion and redundancy.

3 For SPM-17 comment "...For specimen based test, if only SPM-17.1 is valued it must be the same as OBX-14. If both SPM-17.1 and SPM-17.2 are present and relates to the same observation, then OBX-14 must be within this DR range...."
