Standard/IG: Implementation Guide | Artifact ID, Name: Original vs Enhanced processing rules (CA,CR,CE vs AA, AE, AR) |
Issue
Currently ELR, uses :CA,CR,CE ( enhanced processing rules message acknowledgements) vs LRI which uses:AA, AE, AR original processing rules for Message level Acknowledge response. LOI is unclear on which to use. The issue of Original vs Enhanced processing rules (CA,CR,CE vs AA, AE, AR) affects Section 1.8 Sequence Diagrams, MSA-1 value. and table HL7008.( this may be resolved with Value Set project.) Also affects ACK ERR segment Condition Predicate. See section 2.9 MESSAGE PROCESSING RULES of Chapter of base standard for description of each. Since the decision was made to use application level acknowledgements for the S & I V2 lab messages, enhanced processing rules apply.
Recommendation
Use enhanced processing rules. Which requires the following changes to the LRI guide:
1) Section 1.8 Sequence diagrams and text - change AA AR and AE to CA, CR and CE
2) Constrain the values in HL7008 to only support CA,CR,CE) (this may already be part of Value Set project.)
3) Remove reference to "AR: ACK ERR segment Condition Predicate. i.e. "Condition predicate: If MSA-1 (Message Acknowledgement) is not valued CA"
Rationale
Since the decision was made to use application level acknowledgements for the S & I V2 lab messages, enhanced processing rules apply.
