Issue

Clinical Statement model should include support for ordered medications, administered medications, dispensed medications and reported medication history events. The current Medication Event Topic in the Clinical Statement materials needs to be updated to provide more clarity for ordered medications, administered medications, dispensed medications and reported medication history events.

Recommendation

• The Medication Event Topic documentation will be updated and expanded. This includes the Introduction section and the image reflecting the subset of the Clinical Statement model that is most commonly referred to in this topic. Another assumption is that these updates will include any new materials resulting from the CSCRs for the Medication CMETS. The Pharmacy WG will take on the task to update the Medication Topics. This would include updating the Conformance Statements for Medication Events Topic and expand to include support for ordered medications, administered medications, dispensed medications and reported medication history events.

Resolution

12-Feb-09 - Pharmacy is willing to take on the re-write/update of section 2.2. Should it be documented from the prescription, administration, or dispense perspective?

We have appr. 4-5 weeks to complete. John will check with Pharmacy what is feasible.

Another consideration is that template type information (like topics) should be done in respective domain spaces. We should put in publishing links. We will pull in the links as the respective work groups reviewed the templates with CS.

Pharmacy will provide a place to link to.

Motion: Reframe CS Topic to remove what we have now and start to reference derived models in their domain space. We will start with 2.2 (Medication) to point to a reserved space in Pharmacy (to be provided by Pharmacy). We'll remove 2.3 completely. We'll update 2.1 and keep 2.4. We'll inform everybody who has been deriving from CS through the co-chair list server. Patrick, Austin Against: 0; Abstain: 0; In favor: 7

3-Mar-09 - From John: Pharmacy was fine with owning a deliverable of a link that could be provided to CS to help with the CS Events Topic. We do not have a time frame when these materials would be available, but I did volunteer to work on the deliverable. I doubt it will make it in time to get into your next ballot.
