CDA R3 Project Clinical Scenario's

The purpose of this page is to document various clinical scenario's supporting CDA R3. The initial focus is to identify scenario's that will define boundaries between CDA "Clinical" vs. CDA for "General Reporting" as well as what is in/out of scope of the two combined.

CDA Clinical

CDA Clinical is the logical successor to CDA R2, retaining the tight focus on patient centric document requirements. Scenario's should resolve the following questions:

  • Should CDA Clinical include non-human patients (i.e., non-human living subjects, animals, trees, micro-organisms, non-living patients, etc.)?
  • Are groups of patients (i.e., herds, flocks, human populations) in scope for CDA Clinical?
  • TBD

CDA for General Reporting

CDA for General Reporting covers a broad range of use cases that were not included in traditional CDA R2. This includes non-patient centric reporting. Scenario's should try to answer the following questions:

  • Are administrative and financial documents in scope?
  • What types of entities (and the roles they can play) as subjects of documents?
  • TBD

Scenario's

Below is a starter set, feel free to add more scenario's.

  • Name: name of the scenario
  • Description : description of the scenario. Initially we are just looking for a paragraph describing the scenario. These may later be fleshed out into full fledged use cases.
