ServiceDeliveryLocation

The codes are from the RoleCode coding system; in this case we want to add new concept codes to the DedicatedServiceDeliveryLocationRoleType value set:

  1. HB : "Healthcare Bed": the usage of a bed as a practice setting where diagnostic procedures or therapeutic interventions are performed. This includes concepts such as gurneys in the hallway to acute critical care beds, and bassinets in nurseries.
  2. HR: "Healthcare Room": the usage of a room as a practice setting where diagnostic procedures or therapeutic interventions are performed
  3. HU : "Healthcare Unit": the usage of a unit as a practice setting where diagnostic procedures or therapeutic interventions are performed. This includes the concept of ward.

NOTE - the following coded concept already exists in the value set

  • DX "Diagnostics or therapeutics unit" - A practice setting where diagnostic procedures or therapeutic interventions are performed

Motion: on the PA call of 20090715, a motion was accepted (4-0-1) to accept the concept of adding the above 3 RoleCodes to the DedicatedServiceDeliveryLocationRoleType value set.

Place

The value set PlaceEntityType (coding system: EntityCode) has the following codes:

  • BED Bed Location The location of a bed
  • BLDG Building Location The location of a building
  • FLOOR Floor Location The location of a floor of a building
  • ROOM Room Location The location of a room
  • WING Wing Location The location of a wing of a building (e.g. East Wing). The same room number for the same floor number can be distinguished by wing number in some situations

Note: WARD probably has to be added to this value set. Native English speakers will have to assist in describing the nuances of Ward versus Wing/Room.
