Datatypes R2 Issue 79: CodingRationale on CD
Introduction
Vocabulary approved the addition of a codingRationale to CD. (Cleveland? todo: find the minutes for this meeting. It was a joint INM/Vocab meeting, and INM would have the minutes).
CodingRationale provides a reason why a particular translation has been provided as part of a CD or CE.
This was supposed to have been done as part of R1, but for some reason it was only partially added, and it was completely removed as a technical correction later in the process.
Solution
Add a property, e.g., "codingRationale" or "use" code of type SET<CS> with the following table:
- O - originally produced code
- P - post-coding from free text source
- R - required standard code for HL7
- S - source of effective standard code for HL7
This was approved in Vocab ages ago but never made it into R1
