  • Serum triglyceride levels (Source: Medscape):
Less than 100 mg/dL - Optimal
101-150 mg/dL - Normal
150-199 mg/dL - Borderline
200-499 mg/dL - High
500 mg/dL or higher - Very high


  • Total Serum Cholesterol (Source: WebMD):
Desirable: Less than 200 mg/dL
Borderline high: 200-239 mg/dL
High: Over 240 mg/dL


  • Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) (Source: WedMD):
Optimal: Less than 100 mg/dL
Near optimal: 100-129 mg/dL
Borderline high: 130-159 mg/dL
High: 160-189 mg/dL


  • Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) (Source: WebMD):
Normal VLDL levels range from 5 - 40 mg/dL


  • High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) (Source: WebMD):
