Overview
The DEV working group has coordinated with the Fast Health Interoperability Resources (FHIR) project team to develop resources that support the exchange of information acquired from health care devices. The 2014 FHIR DSTU standard includes two of these resources:
The DEV WG continues to develop device related FHIR resources (see below) and profiles that address common use cases for these exchanges.
Current Projects
The DEVWG continues to work with the FHIR group to address health care device resources and their use (profiles). The group is currently looking at resources that address the following two classes of applications:
- Device Alert/Alarm Reporting - Distribution of alarm conditions signaled by a device to the right clinician(s) within the needed time constraints
- Device Remote Control - Ability to change the configuration and operation of a device, such as adjusting limit alert settings or triggering a blood pressure reading
