Conformance Tutorial

Introduction

Conformance is responsible for supporting all conformance activities of users of HL7 standards, including:

  • Profiling (e.g. localization) of HL7 standards to suit specific real-world situations
  • Creation of implementation guides
  • Mechanism to specify, interpret, and test conformance


Name Change

Conformance was previously known as Conformance and Guidance for Implementation/Testing (CGIT). The name has been shortened to simply 'Conformance' with no change or reduction to the purpose of the group. All references to CGIT should be updated to Conformance. Archived CGIT Wikipage

Charter

Provide a forum for users of HL7 standards to:
  • discuss general implementation guidance
  • conformance issues including guidance on testing conformance constructs
  • share best practices, success stories, and challenges related to the use of HL7 standards in specific real-world situations

  • Possible Use of NIST Implementation Guide Authoring and Management Tool (IGAMT) for HL7 v2 Balloting
    • Standardize on the format of how to express a profile with explicit conformance statements including how to bind to vocabulary
  • Unified Conformance Guidance for HL7 Product Lines (previously "Refinement, Constraint, and Localization - version 3").
    • Latest book from Rob and Frank and Conformance tutorial covers this topic
    • Current volunteer hours are not sufficient to push this forward at this time
