The INM committee has created the concept of an "Ambassador". This concept will be added to the DMP of InM. PIC has indicated an interest in the concept.
The ambassador is a person (typically a co-chair) that is empowered to represent the InM committee on a particular topic to another TC or SIG during a meeting of that TC or SIG. Responsibilities are to take action items; communicate statements of Intent; and to report back to the InM committee. The report by the ambassador will be documented in the InM minutes. An ambassador is not empowered not make binding statements.
The InM TC may send an ambassador to another TC or SIG because it has learned that a topic of interest to InM wil be discussed, or at the request of a TC or SIG. The ambassador shall be empowered to respresent the InM committee by means of a motion. The empowerment motion requires a two-thirds majority, the motion shall includes a statement of the topic for which the ambassador is empowered to represent InM, as well as the duration of the ambassador role, which shall not exceed 7 working days.
The Ambassador role will be used where there is need for a more formal representation than an HL7 member who just happens to be present in meetings of multiple committees, but where there is not enough overlap in scope for it to merit a joint meeting between InM and another TC or SIG.
