The Pathology Special Interest Group is in ramp-up stage. There is a sizable group of people who believe that the time is ripe for a CDA based standard for Surgical Pathology reports, and that we will also need to maintain a migration path to HL7 v2 based messaging. This will be the goal for the first standard.

Group Status

This Work Group has been dissolved (July 25, 2016) and rolled back into the Orders and Observations Work Group (OO) [1]. Anatomic Pathology is not currently meeting separately from OO.

Mission

The mission of the Anatomic Pathology WG is to develop and review implementation guides of HL7 standards and to enhance existing HL7 standards to support anatomic pathology use cases.
