The EVS table is primed with the HL7 core list - the assumption being that HL7 has had more time to organize and think about these things. The problem, however, is that the HL7 list continues to evolve, as exemplified by this recent HL7 mail thread. Should we recommend that we reference this core table directly from the HL7 space or should EVS attempt to absorb it and maintain currency?
