Meeting Minutes

Roll Call, Approve Minutes & Accept Agenda

Report Out - HL7 “Policy Advisory Committee” feedback - Bill B. on behalf of John Moehrke

The Policy Advisory Committee accepted the feedback received from the Security WG committee and submitted it verbatim in their letter to the on the USA “Federal Health IT Strategic Plan: 2011-2015”

The final wording given to the Policy Advisory Committee will be posted

Is there any information for Harmonized Confidentiality codes - we have the latest Project Scrope Statement draft. CBCC plans to vote on it today and distribute it to Security, Vocabulary, Structured Docs WGs for their review. The name of the scope statement has been updated to reflect Refactor HL7 Confidentiality Concept Domain

Comments: ‘’Preview for the Security WG’’ – this will be initially put out as informative ballot to receive feedback and comments, then a Normative ballot with a vocabulary harmonization ‘’’Refactor HL7 Confidentiality Concept Domain Project Scope Statement

  • Initially this will be put out as an informative ballot to receive feedback and comments
    • A Normative ballot will follow, along with vocabulary harmonization
  • Question regarding supporting valid requirements
    • The terms are being used appropriately as described in HL7
  • The initial target dates listed are not firm dates; CBCC were unsure of the depth of the work and of the resources needed
  • Backward compatibility – yes, the reason behind this is that the codes are currently being used—albeit some of the incorrectly.
    • suggested that a compatibility mapping was suggested in order to do this
    • speak to groups currently using the confidentiality codes (Canada?) as well as Kathleen Conner—as (I believe was the initiator for the code set)
  • September 2012 is a reasonable project end date.
  • Intent is to pass this Project Scope at the May 2011 meeting in Orlando
