Transportation
Vehicle parking is challenging. Driving in Cambridge or Boston is foolish unless you know both where you're going and the intricacies of the roadways: avoid it!
The public transportation system will get you virtually anywhere you need to go. Subways and buses cover most areas of Cambridge and Boston. The subway lines are referred to by their colors: Red Line, Green Line, Blue Line, Orange Line. The Red Line is the primary subway line serving Cambridge. The Green Line has two stops in Cambridge: Museum and Lechmere.
MBTA is the abbreviation for Massachusetts Bay Transportation System, the public transportation system. It's referred to as the MBTA or just as "the T".
Most of the places you'll visit in Cambridge are near one of the named "squares": Harvard Square, Central Square, Kendall Square, Lechmere, Porter Square, Inman Square. Most squares are served by both a subway and multiple bus lines. The closest "square" is noted in the Location column of most of the below items.
Virtually all the items noted below are within a five minute walk of one of the Cambridge "squares". The exception is the Hyatt Regency Hotel, site of the HL7 Working Group Meeting, which is a 15 minute walk down Brookline St to Central Square.
