Discussion Topics
- Determining the Policy Committee’s purpose: At which levels should HL7 engage?
- Shape public policy
- Inform entities (e.g., HHS, ONC, HIT Policy Committee, HIT Standards Committee, NCVHS, HITSP, CCHIT, international counterparts) what’s achievable through standards now and in the future
- Inform entities of the standards that currently exist, are in development
- What kinds of deliverables are suitable within the context of the advocacy continuum?
- Different advocacy, different processes: Authorship, approvals, and delivery may change by type of deliverable
- Level of viewpoints expressed by type of deliverable
- Expressing both viewpoints (agree and disagree)
- Expressing only one or the other viewpoint
