Newborn Dried Blood Spot Screening
Project Description
Newborn Dried Blood Spot Screening is used to screen newborns routinely for certain genetic, metabolic, hormonal, and functional disorders an is often part of state specific regulations. While these disorders are rare, diagnosing them allows for early treatment to improve a baby’s health and to prevent possible disabilities and, in some cases, death. As with many aspects of healthcare, the organization and delivery of newborn care is information-intensive and can be facilitated by automating information management, usually in the form of electronic health records (EHR) or health information systems.
