Recommendation

Rationale

Discussion

  • May 14, 2009
    • Unclear what proposal is trying to achieve. We think it is:
      • Add the ability to convey evaluation of immunization history and recommendations for next doses due. AND/OR
      • Add additional observations about the patient that can help the provider/registry to assess whether to take further steps or not.
    • If 2)
      • Why not send an ORU with all this information?
      • Also, may position it after IN group and before ORC.
    • If 1), not sure whether an OBX is appropriate or sufficient. How do we convey what is proposed to be ordered without the proposed service identifier(s).
    • While reviewing we wonder whether the ORDER begin/end group should really be called VACCINATION begin/end group since it is not an order for a vaccination, rather the recording of one.
