Project scope

  • Objectives: Create greenCDA modules for CCD.

The Structured Documents Working Group will develop greenCDA modules for CCD. A Scope statement for the project is in preparation.

What is greenCDA?

The full specification of CDA XML addresses universal requirements for exchange and management of structured clinical documents. The greenCDA concept explores one method of working with an implementation-specific XML while maintaining the full utility of CDA, asserting as a primary principle that any simplification must also deliver valid, normative CDA (plain vanilla CDA).

The concept is named “green CDA” because it’s good for the environment!

Robert Worden has implemented the greenCDA sample in a prototype tool to define, test, and deploy a Micro-ITS or Green CDA. The purpose of the tool is to encourage experimentation with Micro-ITS or Green CDA, to help elicit the full requirements for these facilities.
