+ | Sadhana described what was on the calendar for the summer and asked for help with marketing. She noted that we have FHIR Fundamentals, the FHIR Summer Series, and HL7 Fundamentals. There is both a student and group discount for the FHIR Fundamentals course and attendees from low and middle income countries get a discount. Virginia and Caroline have both reached out to a variety of teachers to send to their students. There are 2 students signed up from South Africa. She said she needs the enrollment to increase. She also showed us the planned social media and email advertising for these programs but said it was not enough. She asked us about using social media. Virginia noted that while she can use hers some, she much prefer sharing announcements from HL7's official social media. We also noted that Sadhana or another designee could be the one to send the tweets/etc. Need to come from HL7 because it has a following and authority. Dev Days received very heavy promotion. In comparison, there was very little promotion of the completed V2 series. We discussed piggybacking education marketing with other events, taking pictures and/or tweeting at live educational events, and the idea of writing social media posts from HL7 can send out that may be interesting. Matt wrote some example tweets and others agreed to add to them. Virginia suggested reaching out to Brian Ahier, a HIMSS social media ambassador with a huge following. WGM EAC meetings
- We discussed the challenge of meeting as a full group at the WGM since several are teaching Monday afternoon and Thursday morning. We agreed not to cancel our quarters but instead to add on a dinner on Sunday night. Sadhana/Virginia will follow up with Diego and Fernando to make sure they can come.
Education Calendar/Marketing
Sadhana described what was on the calendar for the summer and asked for help with marketing. John Ritter suggested we ask Rene for advice. Expressed that we would not want HL7 leadership to assume that the low turnout for some classes is because people are not interested - it may be because it was not heavily marketed. Still a large need for HL7 V2 and CCDA. Gora suggested we involve HL7 marketing. Next call will be fully devoted to marketing. We also talked about marketing FHIR experience by tweeting during the education event. Noted that if education is not marketed, how can Sadhana be expected to meet the goals.
HL7 Basics Class
Plan is self-study . Noted that there is a Spanish one that consists of 16 hours of webinars. Could have online lecture and quiz. Virginia said a little bit of technical might still be desirable and needed. Virginia noted that we already have a curriculum plan for this type of course decided May 2017 that is worth taking a look at - she will resend. Caroline reminded us of best practices in developing such a class: determine your audience, create an outline, create a storyboard, review at each phase with user group.
FHIR Experience Class
Need to develop this class. Virginia noted that there was an updated tutorial blurb (updated Caroline's update) and that she also had provided comments on the class proposal. Sadhana plans to schedule a project meeting to move this forward.
