- Protein: < 150mg/24 hours or < 10mg/100mL
- Microalbumin:
- Range of < 30 to 300 mg/24 hours
- less than 20 milligrams per liter (mg/L) for 10-hour (overnight) collection
- Range of < 20 to 200 mcg/min
- Nitrites: 0 (Note: positive indicates bacteria in urine. Positive test strongly suggests infection but negative test does not exclude it (PPV 95% and NPV 25 – 70 %))
- Ketones: 0 (Note: positive results in diabetes mellitus or other glucose metabolism disorder. Also found among people with fevers, anorexia, gastro-intestinal disturbances, fasting, starvation, anesthesia)
- Microscopy:
- - WBC: > 8 x 10^6
- - RBC: aren't found in urine normally. Inflammation, disease, or injury to the kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra can cause blood in urine. Strenuous exercise, such as running a marathon, can also cause blood in the urine
