The removal of pen drives and disks before they have been finalized is a real implementation problem with the use of removable media.  This can be mitigated by ensuring that the software writing to the drive does close it off and tells the user that the drive may be removed (rather than saying that the user shoudl either wait for the drive light to go off, or should manually stop the pen-drive before removing it -- neither of which will happen all the time.
