LIM (Local Information Model) are comparable to [[Constrained_Information_Model_(CIM)-SAIF|CIMs]], in that they are serializable, implementable models. Because there are no strict guidelines on the design of LIMs, they can be based on the [[Reference_Information_Model_(RIM)-SAIF|RIM]], [[DIM_(Domain_Information_Model)-SAIF|DIMs]], [[Constrained_Information_Model_(CIM)-SAIF|CIMs]]  or other LIMs. LIMs are principally intended to be used as templates, but can be applied to any purpose that calls for specification of constrained [http://www.hl7.org| HL7] models.
