PA Living Arrangement

The livingArrangementCode attribute of the Person class was DEPRECATED at the March 2007 harmonization meeting. The action was taken in response to this harmonization proposal‎.

This change impacts Patient Registry messages and Patient and Person CMETs. The Person.livingArrangementCode attribute will need be removed and the information sent as one or more Observations. Fortunately the Patient RMIM already includes an Observation with the Patient as it subject but neither the Person nor Patient CMETs do.

The RIM includes two related value sets for use with Observation.value ObservationLivingDependencyValue and ObservationLivingSituationValue.

However, there does not appear to be a suitable ObservationType domain or value set for this use case.
