FHIR-I R5 plans

Discussion on the desired FMM levels:

Basic - hope to go to 2, maybe 3 CompartmentDefinition - just turn this into narrative pages describing the compartments => extension on StructureDefinition? ExampleScenario - 1 or 2 GraphDefinition/GraphQL - explore its use, look at increased support and implementation, connectathon tracks? Group - move to PA List - 3 or 4 ImplementationGuide - LM: normative candidate, EH/EK: 3-4? NamingSystem - start producing them in the spec. 3/4 Questionnaire/QuestionnaireResponse - Normative? SearchParameter - normative? StructureMap - use is picking up. 3-4? Subscription - search-based subscription is being used, but more experience is needed for "event" based subscriptions. Maybe split in separate resources for the different paradigms, so we can move the search based one to a more mature level? TestScript - to 3? Used in testing systems (just a few) and also for reading tests provided with an IG. TestReport - not much use yet.

Subsystems and technologies we will work on _filter - HAPI will include this - FhirCast CDS Hooks - web messaging Bulk Data - will be integrated in the spec (FHIR-I/security) Compositions with GraphQL/GraphDefinition Async capabilities - ready to go, implemented and tested. FMM 3/4? Digital Signatures CapabilityStatement - split up into multiple? Subscription -> extend for "event" based, move to 5?

Agenda Items

FHIR-I Monday Q4 Notes:

Questions and Issues

  • Question about maturity/stability of workflow artifacts: "No maturity levels on artifacts since not directly implemented but they do influence/change resources." patterns right at about FMM level 4 in stability
  • Brief history of workflow project ( Patterns, state machines, Guidance pages, Task Resource ) ...
  • Question about MessageHeader valuesets: "Messaging is confined to small set of trading partners but no impetus for standarding yet..."
  • Issue with ImagingStudy:
    • Dicom imaging study can be created over time and even several encounters and does not map the 'event' pattern. Is it close enough?
    • to be discussed in quarter with II.
  • Question about Task workflow state machine: Task is in rejected state still can be cancelled. Can create a gforge request to clarify
  • Workflow project scope includes how messaging occurs within a particular pattern.

Tasks for R5 cycle:

  1. Review alignment with workflow patterns.
    1. Plan to incorporate new qa functionality into build tooling to generate warning/errors if not mapped correctly to patterns
  1. Implement ExampleScenario Resource ( draft resource ) designed to provide set of example instance that follow a workflow pattern.
    1. seeking partner to implement in real world scenario/use case -( no interest expressed in room).
  2. Task Resource owned by OO and goal is to make it FMM3-FMM4
    1. discuss Task issues on workflow calls - Monday 2PM Eastern (Orders and Observation make use call to dispose of trackers)
  3. Creation of multiple example instances for each resources
  4. Workflow Connectathon: Question of Interest and no current plan

Task is showing up in various implementation such as DaVinci CRD.
