ServiceDeliveryLocation

The concept domain can be found here: http://www.hl7.org/v3ballot/html/infrastructure/vocabulary/vs_RoleCode.htm#ServiceDeliveryLocationRoleType , where we want to add new concept codes to the DedicatedServiceDeliveryLocationRoleType value set:

"Healthcare Bed": the usage of a bed as a practice setting where diagnostic procedures or therapeutic interventions are performed. This includes concepts such as gurneys in the hallway to acute critical care beds, and bassinets in nurseries.

"Healthcare Room": the usage of a room as a practice setting where diagnostic procedures or therapeutic interventions are performed

"Healthcare Unit": the usage of a unit as a practice setting where diagnostic procedures or therapeutic interventions are performed. This includes the concept of ward.

NOTE - the following coded concept already exists in the value set

    • DX Diagnostics or therapeutics unit - A practice setting where diagnostic procedures or therapeutic interventions are performed

Place

The value set PlaceEntityType has the following codes:

BED Bed Location The location of a bed BLDG Building Location The location of a building FLOOR Floor Location The location of a floor of a building ROOM Room Location The location of a room WING Wing Location The location of a wing of a building (e.g. East Wing). The same room number for the same floor number can be distinguished by wing number in some situations

?? - WARD probably has to be added to this value set. Native English speakers will have to assist in describing the nuances of Ward versus Wing/Room.
