Data Types Issue 16: XML Representation of SLIST

Introduction

There is no way to represent null values in an SLIST. Either there is no need to, in which case this constraint should be documented in the Abstract Data Types, or there is a need, in which case the representation should be fixed

It seems that there is a need. This was discussed in the XML Sig back in the dark ages. I recall that we agreed that we would use an escape sequence like /NA.

This would not be backward compatible.

Discussion

The proposed solution is ugly - but there doesn't seem to be anything better.

ToDo: Can you make a schema for this?
